FIRE.
No, I’m not talking about the fire that burns you when touched. I’m talking about the movement that has taken many people by the storm to get out of the working world and retire by 30.
It’s a movement so outrageous, I initially dismissed it as poppycock, but after seeing countless millennial successfully retiring after 5-10 years of their FIRE pursuit, I started to keep an open mind and explore just what this movement is.
What is FIRE?

FIRE, or Financial Independence, Retire Early was popularized by the best-selling book, Your Money Your Life, in which frugality experts Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez, showed that retirement at a young age is possible for anyone, so long as they learn how to budget and save their money intelligently.
I first stumbled upon this movement through a blog called, Millennial Money, where the blogger, Grant Sabatier, shared his journey of going from a laid-off twenty-something-year-old to a retired millionaire in just 5 years. Grant spent those 5 years studying heavy into FIRE and spent his time figuring out how to generate passive income, high return investments, and multiplying income at his 9-5.
Personally, the idea of being free of corporate life and no longer worrying about money was something I’m excited to get on board with. So when he released his book, Financial Freedom, I bought it immediately and binge-read his book in one weekend. At the end of it all, I was overwhelmed by all information that comes from FIRE
The Start of FIRE

I won’t sugar-coat this. If you’re like me and know very little about finances, then you’ll find the FIRE movement is information overload. So much so, people who succeeded in FIRE can easily make a career in what they know.
I had recently begun my journey into FIRE a little over a month ago and I feel like the little steps I’ve made have exponentially helped me get closer to that dream of early retirement. However, there is so much to learn that can really only come from studying and experimentation.
So, I decided to start a blog series on my FIRE journey called, Prometheus Quest. In this series, I plan to adventure into the financial world, strive towards financial independence, and share what I learn along the way.
I am excited to start my FIRE journey and the possibilities that await.
